Theme Writing is a summer camp designed to help kids develop their basic and complex writing skills. The writing camp will begin with activities designed to help students refresh and expand their basic writing skills (sentence structure, types of sentences, paragraphs, and organization). We will then develop more complex writing skills by reading different examples of writing, developing a new writing style, and implementing these together. Students will also have the opportunity to edit and offer feedback on each other’s work. At the end of the camp, students will have the ability to write complex sentences, brainstorm, compose outlines, use a variety of writing styles, edit their own and other’s writing, and craft the start of a story.
Students will: Write complete grammatical sentences, develop an outline for a story/paper, identify and implement 3 narrative styles, and edit their own & other’s work.
